“The beauty of a woman isn’t in the clothes she wears, the curve of her figure, or how smooth her face is. The beauty of a woman is seen in her eyes because that’s the doorway to her heart and the place where love resides. The beauty of a woman is reflected by her soul. It’s in the caring she gives and the passion that she shows. The beauty of a woman, with each passing year does not diminish but continues to grow”.
– Audrey Hepburn
Sometime ago, I wrote a 3-part series on domestic violence and joined my voice with millions of people world over seeking to put an end to this issue. It was an interesting read and if you haven’t seen it, I would recommend you do, so you can advise anyone you know in such shoes on steps to take.
Victims of domestic violence often times see themselves as no good, not beautiful or worthy enough of love and respect and blame themselves for the issues in their relationships/marriages. This is so not true. Hence in the light of this, I have decided to write on the true beauty of a woman.
Each day I wake up, I say my morning prayers first and then I look into the mirror. I appreciate and show gratitude for my beautiful self. I look deep within me and I give thanks to God for the wonder of my being and beauty of my heart. I say to myself, “Omon, you are beautiful”.
This is not pride. I just know who I am. Sure I have flaws and I am imperfect. I have made lots of mistakes and I am yet to make many more but I do know that I am good and loving and for my positive attributes, I am superbly thankful because each day they become more than my flaws.
The beauty of a woman lies neither in her good looks nor in her physique but lies in her character, her personality, in who she is, in her soul.
Use your beauty to change the world today. We cry for opportunities to be heard but it begins from within us and our immediate environment. If we can’t make a positive change in our families and our communities, how do we want to make such great change when we indeed hold positions of power?
Let your life speak for you. Let the world see the beauty in you and let that be your crowning glory. In everything you do, let your beauty shine forth from your soul – as a working class woman, stay home mum, boutique owner, shop owner or even as women of yields (gorgeous market women), no matter your position in life, no matter the office you occupy, no matter how low you may think of that position, as a woman, you hold a position of power in that office.
You were created to be all-embracing to mankind, to be queens and mothers of nations and kingdoms. How do I mean?
Every seed implanted in the womb of a woman, signifies yet another great life to be born. No one fell from heaven. Everyone on earth is born of a woman. The breast of woman was suckled and her hands nurtured every suckling, every child to be a fine man or woman today.
Every great man today; everyone who sits on the seat of authority, be it the class prefect in schools (nursery, primary, secondary), class representative in the University, teachers, CEOs of companies, governors, senators, presidents, kings, etc., is to a large extent, a product of his exposure to life.
It is what a woman feeds into the souls of her children that makes them who they are. If a woman feeds a child with anger, hate, evil, so will he grow to be. If such a child is fed with the opposite – forgiveness, love, good, so will he be too.
In the life of every man on earth, there has been the touch of a woman be it morally, spiritually, psychologically, mentally and otherwise. Even those who are motherless have also experienced the touch of a woman, relatives or not.
For you to produce great leaders and kings of nations and kingdoms, you have to be a woman of greatness; a woman of virtue; a woman of beauty. You cannot give what you do not have. Look deep within yourself and ask yourself: “What qualities do I possess?”, “What virtues do I have?”
Margaret Nadauld said,“The world has enough women who are tough; We need women who are tender. There are enough women who are coarse; We need women who are kind. There are enough women who are rude; We need women who are refined. We have enough women of fame and fortune; We need more women of faith. We have enough greed; We need more goodness. We have enough vanity; We need more virtue. We have enough popularity; We need more purity”.
Isn’t this about right? Woman in her own stead, is powerful enough to have influence on man – positive or negative. Check out women in the bible: Jezebel, Esther, Judith, Ruth, Jochebed, (Mother of Moses), Sarah, Rebecca, Elizabeth (Mother of John the Baptist), Mary, Mother of Jesus, to mention but a few. These women in their own way, positive or negative have made history – some in themselves, others, through their children.
These glorious and wonderful women have attained pedestals of greatness; pinnacles of glory. How about you? What do you want to be said about you long after you depart this world? Where do you want your names to be mentioned? What influence should be said that you had in the lives of others? The decision lies with you.
“How am I going to begin?” you may wonder. “The responsibility is too much. I would rather remain relegated to the background. I am doing just fine in my comfort zone. No need to step out of it. Or maybe I will but not yet”. Any of such thoughts or worse going through your minds right about now?
Does it suddenly feel like a life impossible? Sweetie, you are born to live and not just exist. For you to be great; for you to leave a legacy behind; for you to leave positive footprints in the sands of time, you have to live a life that is worth all these. You are an embodiment of virtue as elaborated in this video.
Fantabulous Chic, your beauty is astonishing. Your radiance is infectious. You illuminate the path you walk on for others to follow. You are a woman. You are awesome. Even man knows this and appreciates your beauty and that is why someone said, “When a guy tells you that you’re hot, he is looking at your body. When a guy tells you that you are pretty, he is looking at your face. When a guy tells you that you are beautiful, he is looking at your heart”.
How do you want to be complimented? Hot? Pretty? or Beautiful? “A beautiful woman uses her lips for truth, her voice for kindness, her ears for compassion, her hands for charity and her heart for love. For those who do not like her, she uses prayer” – Unknown.
Choose to live a life that screams, “I am great!”, “I am awesome!” Let others ask, “How does she accomplish all these? I so want to be like her!” The place to start is here. The time to start is now wherever you may be, whoever you are, whatever you are. Someone did say, “Don’t wait for the perfect moment. Take a moment and make it perfect”
Make yourself available to make a difference in the world. Stop hiding. Come out and avail yourself to make a positive impact in the lives of others. The formation of the life of another lies in your hands as an unknown author once said, “The hand that rocks the cradle is the hand that rules the world”. Hence, the child says:
In agreement with what this child on behalf of all children pleads for, Nelson Mandela supports with his words, “No one is born hating another person because of the colour of his skin, or his background, or his religion. People must learn to hate, and if they can learn to hate, they can be taught to love. For love comes more naturally to the human heart than its opposite”.
What does this tell us? Do you still not understand? In the end, all roads – good or bad, leads to you as the woman. Great kings, presidents, and leaders are born and are made. A child learns from not only what he is taught but also what he sees. What kind of life do you live? Is it one of true beauty that will positively rub off on everyone around you especially the children?
Do not think that because you are not yet a mother, this exempts you. Oh no! Every woman is a mother to every child, hers’ or not. It is who we are; who we were created to be.
Now, do you understand how powerful you are as a woman? Do you now realize the magnitude of responsibilities on your shoulders? Do you now realize that you live your life not only for yourself but for others? Do you now see why the beauty of your soul has to shine ever so brightly and radiantly to guide the ways of others to greatness?
Motherhood is an attribute you were created with. You have that role as a mother in the lives of all you meet whether as a sister, friend, girlfriend, cousin, niece, or wife. The role you play in the growth and development of the world, in whatever capacity, is indispensable.
As a woman, you play an essential and vital role in the world. If it wasn’t so, you wouldn’t have been created. Adam could have had a fellow man as his companion but no, God created woman. Woman is a whole bunch of talents, gifts, and surprises. No matter how soft she may look, her strength is beyond compare when she puts her mind to whatever she is doing.
Sweetheart, never tarnish the beauty of your soul. You are a very significant creature of God with great duties and responsibilities to carry out. And carry them out, you must.
Never forget that a smile is the most beautiful curve on a woman’s body. Anne Roiphe said, “A woman whose smile is open and whose expression is glad has a kind of beauty no matter what she wears”. So, each day, be sure to wear this most important and beautiful expression.
Accentuate this particular curve on your body and draw millions of people to yourself. Smile is infectious and it could be that medicine that so many people have been waiting for. Why deprive the world of that beautiful gift?
So, beautiful queen, always know that you are a gorgeous beauty and a jewel of the heart of God. You are:
a woman of grace,
a woman of splendor,
a woman of charm,
a woman of poise,
a woman of strength,
a woman of faith,
a woman of class,
a woman of excellence,
a woman of grandeur,
a woman of many talents,
a woman of virtue,
a woman of PRAYER and so much more.
You are unique in all the world. There is no second of you. You are special.
This is your life and you can live it only once. There is no more time to waste. If you have not already begun, then start living your life now and quit existing only. You have dreams and aspirations, don’t you? You think you don’t? You sure do. Look deep within. Your purpose in life is deep within you. A wise one said, “Don’t dream your life. Live your DREAMS”.
So, I ask you, are you a beautiful woman? How have you positively influenced your family and immediate community with your beautiful heart? How have you set the pace for your family to lead and live great lives? I would love to read your comments in the comment box below.
